Pooja Hegde has been struggling to find big offers in Telugu cinema in recent years and her Tollywood career slowed down. Her fans became hopeful again when the Tamil industry began offering her fresh opportunities. She is currently acting with Vijay in Jana Nayagan. Reports say she also signed a key role in Lawrence’s Kanchana 4. Her name was even considered for Dhanush’s next film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy of Amaran fame. The initial discussions reportedly went well.
However, things changed at the last minute. The makers replaced Pooja with Sai Pallavi. This has become a recurring pattern for Pooja. She reaches the final stage of casting but loses the role unexpectedly. Fans feel that her bad luck has followed her into Tamil cinema as well.
Sai Pallavi stepped in without any delay. She previously worked with Dhanush in Maari 2. Their song Rowdy Baby became a massive pan India hit. Their successful pairing likely influenced the decision of the makers.
Sai Pallavi is currently focused on the Bollywood film Ramayana, where she plays Sita. The project is huge and demands long schedules. Because of this she has not signed many Telugu or Tamil films after Thandel. Even then she agreed to Dhanush’s 55th film. This decision reportedly came from her positive working experience with director Rajkumar Periyasamy during Amaran.
Pooja’s fans are disappointed. They hoped Tamil cinema would revive her career. For Sai Pallavi this project seems like an ideal fit. She is selective with her scripts and audiences trust her choices. Viewers already expect her to deliver another strong performance in her next collaboration with Dhanush.
Pooja Hegde for now looks forward to Jana Nayagan, Kanchana 4, and the Bollywood film with Varun Dhawan titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
