Prabhas has enjoyed unmatched pan-India stardom ever since Baahubali, but the shadow of that massive success has followed him in every film that came after. His movies continue to post huge box office numbers, yet many feel that as a performer he has not been able to recreate the impact he delivered in Baahubali.
Salaar was a decent grosser, but considering the combination of Prabhas with Prashanth Neel, the director who delivered the 1200-crore KGF, the film fell short of expectations. Even Prashanth Neel is said to have been unhappy with how it turned out. Kalki 2898 AD went past the 1000-crore mark according to producers, but again, the general sentiment was that Prabhas the actor didn’t shine the way fans hoped.
Now he is gearing up for The Raja Saab, releasing on January 9. But what fans are truly waiting for are the big three: Salaar 2, Spirit, and Kalki 2. And that excitement largely comes from the bold promises made by the directors themselves.
Prashanth Neel said, “Salaar 2 is going to be my best work ever.”
Nag Ashwin promised, “I will work hard so the audience will hail Prabhas as the best in Kalki 2.”
Sandeep Reddy Vanga assured, “I will not disappoint you. Spirit will be worth the wait for sure.”
Because of these statements, fans believe a historic and earth-shattering phase is loading for Prabhas where not only records will fall, but where he will also reach new heights as an actor.
Meanwhile, Prabhas fans are thrilled as Spirit has officially begun yesterday. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who shook Indian cinema with Arjun Reddy and Animal, the film commenced with a grand muhurtham event in Hyderabad. Megastar Chiranjeevi attended as chief guest and wished the team well.
Now all eyes are on these directors to see whether they will keep their promises and finally satisfy the hunger of Prabhas fans.
