An interesting scenario is developing in the landscape of South cinema. Some of the biggest star heroes after delivering their huge hits have now teamed up with directors who last delivered their biggest flops.
Ram Charan, after global blockbuster RRR, is coming up with Game Changer directed by Shankar who has just delivered the biggest disaster of his career, Indian 2, which is expected to make a minimum of 60% losses for its makers.
NTR’s next after RRR is Devara with Koratala Siva who is trying to reinvent himself after the colossal debacle Acharya.
Prabhas has chosen to collaborate with Maruthi for Raja Saab. Despite having access to India’s top directors, Prabhas has opted to work with Maruthi, whose last film, Pakka Commercial, was a complete washout at the box office.
Vijay after scoring the 600-crore blockbuster Leo is gearing up for his next titled The Greatest Of All Times with Venkat Prabhu who directed Custody with Naga Chaitanya which was completely rejected by the audience.
It remains to be seen whether the market value of these star heroes and the revenue of their previous blockbusters will drive the business for these films or if the association with directors who have delivered the biggest disasters will negatively impact their deals.
