The disastrous result of The Raja Saab has triggered strong backlash from Prabhas fans. Released as a Sankranti festival film on January 9, the movie opened to mixed to negative word of mouth. Many viewers felt let down, especially because several scenes shown in the trailer were missing from the final cut, and the overall film was terrible. As a result, the film flopped badly and turned into a major embarrassment at the pan India level.
Most of the anger has been directed at Maruthi. Fans believe he failed to present Prabhas. Fans feel Maruthi intentionally destroyed Prabhas’s image and wasted the goodwill he built over the years.
The situation worsened due to a statement Maruthi made during the trailer event. He had said that if Prabhas fans felt even 1 percent disappointment, they were invited to come to his home, as he shared his house address and asked them to question him directly.
After the film’s failure, some fans took this statement literally. Reports say they began harassing the director by placing repeated fake cash on delivery food and online orders to his home. The constant disturbance allegedly forced Maruthi to instruct his watchman not to accept any parcels.
Things took a more disturbing turn when another group of fans crossed limits by dragging Chiranjeevi into the issue. At a theatre, they reportedly pasted a Prabhas mask over Chiranjeevi’s face on a poster of Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, which clashed with Raja Saab and became a blockbuster. They made insulting comments while recording a video. Theatre staff intervened and asked them to leave, but the video had already gone viral.
This incident drew sharp backlash online. Chiranjeevi’s fans also reacted strongly, mocking Prabhas in response and further escalating fan wars on social media. While actors within the industry generally maintain mutual respect, such fan excesses only spread negativity.
Telugu cinema lovers on social media are asking who will put a stop to this harassment by frustrated Prabhas fans. Many believe only Prabhas can bring things under control. If he issues a clear public statement asking fans to stop such behavior, they might listen. Several voices have strongly condemned these actions, stating that no film failure, big or small, ever justifies personal harassment or disrespect toward others.
