Prabhas has established himself as India’s top star. The success of Kalki 2898 AD, especially in overseas and Hindi markets, reaffirms his popularity.
Some argue Shah Rukh Khan remains unbeatable overseas, citing Pathaan and Jawan’s combined $50 million collection abroad. Pathaan earned around $17.5 million in the US, while Jawan grossed about $15.3 million.
However, Prabhas, with four movies grossing over $8 million in the US—Baahubali 2, Salaar, Baahubali, and now Kalki 2898 AD—holds a unique record.
No actor has achieved this fear till now. This achievement reflects his strong box office presence in the region.
Fans argue that Shah Rukh Khan’s films have twice grossed $15 million in the US, achieved with regular ticket prices, unlike Prabhas’ films that benefit from exorbitant premieres and high-priced tickets throughout their run.
However, SRK’s films generally attract more footfalls than Prabhas’, even comparatively average films like Dunki selling more tickets than Salaar or Baahubali. SRK films with positive word of mouth also have a longer run than Prabhas
The competition to dominate the box office between Prabhas Vs SRK in the future remains to be seen.
