In a recent interview, Prashanth Neel addresses the Christmas box office clash between Salaar, featuring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Prashanth Neel clarifies that Salaar is not in competition with Dunki and expresses disapproval of the social media ‘war’ between fans of the two films.
Neel emphasizes that while fans may see it as a ‘war,’ the filmmakers are not trying to compete but rather survive and entertain together. He discourages involvement in the negativity, stating it’s not productive to the cinema environment.
Responding to online rumors about manipulated Salaar collections, Neel stated that without the clash, such allegations and fan wars would not likely have arisen.
This led to speculation among Telugu Twitter, with some alleging that Neel hinted that Shah Rukh Khan and his team are creating negativity for Salaar.
Neel, however, never made negative remarks about any star or movie. He claimed that such things are normal when two movies with the biggest stars clash at the box office.
Despite fan rivalry, both films have maintaning well at the box office. Salaar has grossed ₹460 crores worldwide in eight days, leading over Dunki, which grossed ₹340 crores in nine days.
