L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal and directed by Pruthviraj Sukumaran got embroiled in many controversies. Pruthviraj Sukumaran led Mohanlal who is a non-controversial actor all his career into unnecessary issues.
The movie has now become a nationwide issue and it led to a re-censor and Mohanlal issuing a Public Apology.
If someone is to blame for this, it is Pruthviraj Sukumaran.
Leaving aside the content issues, the actor has severe behavior issues as well.
No doubt he is a good actor and delivered some impressive films but the way he conducted himself in Empuraan Press interactions is not up to the level.
Even for simple questions, he would not talk straight. He would give some sarcastic answers and try to bully one who questions.
For an instance, take Empuraan Telugu Pressmeet. He would constantly throw satires on some Senior Journalists and mock them.
Some of the questions may not be great but they are definitely harmless. He would have answered such questions simply but instead he always showed his arrogance and give sarcastic answer not respecting their age and experience.
This attitude continued in every language.
Mohanlal usually speaks very less in the interviews. He took very less questions when compared to Prithviraj.
Even for Mohanlal’s questions, Prithviraj would interfere and say the answers. That is severe disrespect to the Legend.
Even when he talks good about the Malayalam film industry, there is no humility and humbleness. These are the two qualities the Malayalam film industry is famous for.
After watching the film, one can easily say it is not up to the range of his arrogance.
Pruthviraj’s surge in Pan-Indian markets may have fueled this behavior.
Arrogance and Talent do not go hand to hand. A bit of less arrogance will make him better. Hopefully he will realize at least now.
