Director Puri Jagannadh has filed a case in Police Station regarding the harassment he has been meted with. The cause for the trouble is distributors who lost money heavily on his film Loafer. But more important thing here is to look besides Loafer. Films of the director have been bombing for a long time which meant his past had to catch up sooner rather than later.

But is he alone with such problem? A look at the top names in the industry would reveal how many others are floating on the same boat. It is just a matter of time when other such issue happens. Look at Sardaar Gabbar Singh and the kind of loses it is going to register. Then there is Bruce Lee and Akhil and so on. The list would go on and keep on piling in future as well.
So should all the blame squarely be put on directors and actor for the loss? Are the distributors not to be blamed here for blindly risking such huge amounts? Do they give back to the makers when they make profits? Things like this should also be considered when making a judgment. In the end distribution is a gamble where no one knows the final result.
The trend of distributors creating ruckus has led to lots of disturbances in our neighboring Tamil film industry. Let’s hope the trend doesn’t start in Telugu film industry as well.
