And here it is, the first single from the highly awaited Pushpa – The Rise starring Icon Star Allu Arjun. Devi Sri Prasad composes the music, whereas Sukumar directs the movie. It is their third outing after the classic Arya and cult Aarya 2. Do we need to say anything else as to why the expectations are sky-high?
‘Daakko Daakko Meka’ struck gold the first moment its audio glimpse was out. Since then, the makers have so aggressively promoted it that one is already very familiar with the catchphrase. Now that the complete song is out, we have to say, Devi Sri Prasad delivers.
The opening sound instantly draws us into the song. The unique sound and propulsive rhythm make one tap the foot immediately. What then follows is a typical DSP mass sound. These recycled parts might feel a little disappointing initially, but rest assured, one is sure to surrender to the rhythm eventually.
The lyrics are not the type that is usually heard in chartbusters. It sticks to the film’s theme, and in the case of Pushpa, it looks like it is survival of the fittest. The entire food chain is explained via the lyrics rhythmically. The hook part is of course ‘Daakko Daakko Meka’.
The single gets into full flow post the second stanza and ends on a high. It is a neat blend of fresh and predictable sounds of Devi Sri Prasad. That should make it a winner. But, will it reach the levels of the Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo needs to be seen.
Coming to the other versions, the Hindi one stands out due to the choice of the male singer, Vishal Dadlani. When we consider the voice match to the song’s crazy energy, he is the best fit. However, lyrically, the Hindi one isn’t as exciting as Telugu. Mainly because it is a faithful translation of Telugu, some words feel odd. We have to see how the general audience receives it.
Pushpa is a forest-based action-adventure thriller. Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and Sunil play crucial roles. Mythri Movie Makers produce the film, which is slated to hit cinemas for Christmas 2021.
