PVRINOX Vs Manjummel Boys: The Real Story

Manjummel Boys

It is known that Mythri Movie Makers had recently released Manjummel Boys in Telugu. The film opened well at the box office and is said to be returning decent theatrical returns in the Telugu states.

But all of a sudden, Mythri was dealt with a shocker as leading multiplex chain PVR Inox stopped the screening of Manjummel Boys not just in the Telugu states but all of India. More strangely, Mythri has nothing to do with this.

The root cause here is that PVR is in a tussle with Malayalam producers over a new content-providing company called PDC. With Malayalam producers pushing the theater owners in Kerala to only screen films through the newly launched PDC company, PVR Inox grew impatient and decided to stop the screenings of Mallu films all across India.

Not just Manjummel Boys, the PVR properties across India stopped the screenings of Premalu as well. They halted the bookings for several upcoming Malayalam releases that are lined up over the weekend.

But in the case of the Telugu version, the Mallu producers have already sold the product to Mythri so this should be considered as a completely different product. But as it turned out, PVR’s tussle with Mallu producers ended up costing Mythri as the Telugu screenings have been halted, resulting in a loss of theatrical revenues for the Telugu production house.
