Delhi Capitals have added another former India cricketer to their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2027.
Former leg spinner Amit Mishra has been appointed as the team’s spin bowling coach.
He will work alongside head coach Sourav Ganguly, assistant batting coach Yuvraj Singh and fast bowling coach Chaminda Vaas.
Amit Mishra’s appointment marks his return to Delhi Capitals, the franchise where he began his IPL journey in 2008.
The 43 year old retired from all forms of cricket in September 2025 and will now start his coaching career in the IPL with his former team.
Speaking about his new role, Amit Mishra said he was happy to begin his coaching career with Delhi Capitals. He also expressed his desire to bring happiness to the team’s fans, who are still waiting for their first IPL title. Delhi is my heartbeat, he said in a video shared by the franchise.
Amit Mishra had a memorable IPL career, taking five wickets for 17 runs against Deccan Chargers in 2008. He also took a hat trick in that match. He later claimed two more hat tricks in 2011 and 2013, making him the only bowler to achieve the feat three times in IPL history.
The former India spinner finished his IPL career with 174 wickets in 162 matches at an economy rate of 7.37. He represented Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants before playing his last IPL match in 2024.
Delhi Capitals finished sixth in IPL 2026 and will look to make a stronger push for the title next season. Amit Mishra’s experience could help the franchise strengthen its spin department as it prepares for IPL 2027.
