Ranabaali Director’s Electricity Remark Backfires Badly

Rahul Sankrityan electricity remark trolled

Director Rahul Sankrityan has become a target of social media trolling after sharing his thoughts on electricity and how it changed human lifestyles. During a promotional interview with anchor Suma for his upcoming film Ranabaali, the director said he sometimes wishes there was no electricity because it took away peaceful nights, natural sleep patterns, and an older way of living.

Rahul explained that people in earlier generations followed a more natural routine. They slept early, woke up with the sound of roosters, and depended on fire lamps for light. According to him, artificial lighting extended waking hours and affected the natural sleep cycle.

His comments were more of a reflection on how modern life has changed basic human habits, especially in the context of Ranabaali, a period drama set in an earlier era.

But social media users were not convinced by his argument.

Several people pointed out that switching off lights and sleeping early are still personal choices. One user sarcastically suggested removing roads as well, so people would walk instead of driving and become healthier. Another asked Rahul to remove electricity from his own house if he genuinely wanted to live without it.

One user even suggested that Rahul stop paying his electricity bill for two months, saying the electricity department would then happily fulfil his wish.

Others questioned the irony of a filmmaker criticizing modern conveniences while working in an industry that depends heavily on electricity. Some also mocked celebrities for romanticizing a life without electricity while enjoying air-conditioned homes and other luxuries.

However, his comments seem to be more about how modern life has changed traditional habits than a serious demand to abandon electricity. Still, his choice of words has given social media users plenty of material to troll him.
