Prabhas returned to theatres with his latest release Raja Saab, which hit screens on January 9. The film opened to a mediocre start at the box office despite high expectations.
As per reports, Raja Saab collected close to ₹100 crore gross globally on its opening day. This was mainly driven by strong collections from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which accounted for over 55 percent of the opening-day revenue.
On paper, a ₹100 crore global opening appears impressive. However, considering Prabhas’s usual box office standards and the elevated market conditions in Tollywood, the figures seem average.
The film reportedly earned around ₹75 crore gross from India. Overseas markets contributed approximately ₹25 crore, helping the film narrowly touch the ₹100 crore global milestone.
Given the massive investments involved, Raja Saab must sustain well through the weekend. Trade circles expect the film to benefit from the ongoing Sankranthi season.
A solid performance during the festival weekend is crucial for long-term box office stability. This phase will also serve as an important test of Prabhas’s box office pull.
However, competition remains tough with films like Mana Shankar Vara Prasad and Anaganaga Oka Raju also releasing during the Sankranthi weekend.
