SS Rajamouli’s recently held masterclass in Paris has become the latest talking point among Indian fans, not because of any controversy, but because hardly anyone outside France can officially watch it.
Social media is buzzing with requests to upload the full interview after fans discovered that the nearly two-hour session is currently available only to viewers in France on Prime Video. Screenshots showing the geo-restriction have gone viral, with fans flooding X with requests to be made available for Indian audience with subtitles.
During the masterclass, Rajamouli reportedly spoke in detail about his next mega project, Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.
Varanasi is said to blend modern adventure with Indian mythology, featuring Antarctica-set action sequences, references to the Ramayana and Hindu gods, large-scale natural disasters, and spectacular visuals.
The Paris masterclass itself was a special occasion. French journalist and critic Axel Cadieux, who moderated the session, shared how he had first interviewed Rajamouli back in 2014 when Baahubali was still considered an unusual experiment. Twelve years later, he found himself introducing the filmmaker to a packed auditorium, calling Rajamouli a “living legend” after the worldwide success of Baahubali and RRR.
The session was part of Rajamouli’s France tour, which also included special screenings and interactions celebrating his contribution to world cinema. According to Axel Cadieux, the full conversation will also be featured in an upcoming issue of So Film magazine.
For now, however, Indian fans are experiencing a serious case of FOMO as the full interview remains officially accessible only in France on Prime Video.
Considering the massive anticipation surrounding Varanasi, it won’t be surprising if the makers eventually release the interview globally. Until then, Rajamouli fans outside France will have to settle for short clips and social media updates while hoping the full masterclass finds its way to the rest of the world.
