It came as a shock to a lot of people when it was announced that Gajendra Gajendra Chauhan was selected to become the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India when other stalwart personalities like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth were in the running.

For the selection of the Chairman, a panel with the list of names including Shyam Benegal, Anupam Kher and Adoor Gopalakrishnan other than the ones mentioned above was send by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. But it seems that the list was ignored by the Minister of state. Even Resul Pookutty, an Oscar award winner took to Twitter to express his opinion on the matter. Not just @AnupamPkher Mr.@arunjaitley also told us in the meeting that we haven’t made the best of choice but as a Govt.we can’t retract!
Meanwhile, the Government has defended its decision saying only those who could devote considerable time for the job could be selected as the head of FTII.
