RC17: Is Ram Charan Risking His Peak Prime for Sukumar?

Ram Charan RC17 delay news

As per industry speculation, Ram Charan’s 17th film RC17 with Sukumar is clearly not happening anytime soon.

Sukumar, known for his slow and detail-heavy filmmaking process, is currently overseeing three different scripts being developed by his team for this project. Each version reportedly has a distinct treatment. Out of these, one idea has strongly impressed Ram Charan and is now being developed with a strict no-compromise approach.

Sukumar is expected to narrate the final version around July or August. But even that is just the starting point.

Going by his track record, this project is likely to take significant time, both before it goes on floors and during production. That puts Ram Charan in a tricky position. Waiting might not be the smartest move.

Fans are already questioning his pace. Already six years have passed in this decade, and Ram Charan has had only two releases, RRR and Game Changer. His next film, Peddi, is releasing in June 2026.

If he continues to wait for Sukumar, this project may not even start for another year. Add pre-production, shooting, possible reshoots, and post-production, and the release could easily take another two years.

That creates a bigger concern.

At this rate, Ram Charan might end up with just four or five releases in an entire decade. For a top-tier star in his peak prime, that is a very low output.

This is why many feel he should have moved ahead with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s proposed jungle adventure mythological project, reportedly to be directed by P. S. Mithran. It could have been a faster, high-impact film while Sukumar’s project took its time.

If Sukumar’s film continues to take shape slowly, Ram Charan should seriously consider locking a quicker project with a strong script in the meantime. The industry demands more consistent output from a star of his stature.
