Ramayana Teaser Review: Worthy of Indian Cinema’s Pride?

Ranbir Kapoor Ramayana Rama Glimpse

The teaser of Ramayana, one of the most awaited films of the year, has finally been released. It delivers a visually rich experience and creates strong curiosity among audiences.

The project has been in discussion for a long time. The teaser manages to meet most expectations. Even without dialogues, it clearly shows the effort put into world building and visual storytelling.

The visual effects by DNEG appear smooth and detailed. The ancient setting of the epic looks both magical and believable, adding depth to the teaser.

Several shots feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The teaser presents different phases of Rama’s journey, including his training, royal life and exile. A brief back shot of Ravana is also included.

Ranbir Kapoor looks calm and composed as Rama. However, some may feel he appears slightly older for the role. Other characters are not fully revealed, making it difficult to judge their looks.

Yash appears as Ravana, but only from the back. His screen presence is very brief, so it does not offer much insight into his portrayal.

Sai Pallavi’s look as Ma Sita has not been revealed yet. It seems the makers have intentionally avoided showing her to prevent early criticism or negative reactions.

The music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer works well in parts. However, expectations are higher given the scale of their collaboration, and it could have been more impactful.

Visually, the teaser stands out with its grand scale. The detailing in chariots and set pieces is impressive. The film appears to match international standards in terms of presentation.

However, some creature designs feel similar to those seen in Lord of the Rings films and the Elden Ring game. This gives a slightly familiar visual tone in certain moments.

Overall, the teaser creates a positive impression. While it looks promising, there is still scope for improvement in visual effects and sound before the final theatrical release.
