Rangamarthanda No Relief On OTT As Well

Rangamarthanda OTTKrishna Vamshi’s latest film Rangamarthanda was a washout in theaters. It was expected that the film would receive better reception when released on OTT. But here also, the film has fallen flat with very limited viewership. No one is talking about the film anywhere on social media.

The reason for such cold reception is that the plot of the film is very outdated. The story resembles the plot of 80s and 90s films like Samsaram Oka Chadarangam.

All the characters in the film follow similar tropes that are beaten to death in several previous films in the same genre. The screenplay is of convenience and can be predicted from a mile. Prakash Raj’s character is supposed to evoke sympathy, but the way he behaves irrationally and creates a nuisance in his children’s lives, anyone in today’s times would get irritated. But, Prakash Raj’s performance makes it watchable.

Ramya Krishna’s death also happens out of nowhere because, in the climax, Prakash Raj has to be shown as living alone so that he goes back to the theater. As said earlier, it’s a screenplay of convenience.

The overall presentation is very old-fashioned, which triggered mixed reactions even on OTT, nonetheless, it is a well-intentioned remake by Krishna Vamsi.
