It is known that a recent Deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna created a huge uproar on social media. In this video, Rashmika’s face is edited into a bold video that originally features some other lady.
The Women’s Commission had filed a complaint against the video with the Delhi police last year and finally, there is affirmative action on this front now.
Delhi Cyber police DCP has confirmed that a South Indian man who is suspected of creating and sharing this video has been arrested. The details of the culprit weren’t released to the media though.
However, there are several reports on social media that an Andhra Pradesh resident has been identified as the culprit in the case and he has been arrested. It is reported that an AP man has been arrested with regard to this case and he is being prosecuted now. More details will be out soon.
Back then, there was a widespread movement from the film community urging the government to curb the spread of these deepfake videos on social media.
