Maharashtra Government had come up with one of the biggest reforms in Police department of the country. Starting from January 1st, people in the state will be able to register FIR online and get a copy of the complaint on WhatsApp, along with a SMS confirming the filing.

Every Police Station will go paperless and will have the provision to register FIR electronically. Maharashtra will be the first state in the country to accept FIR online and central government had directed all states to follow this.
This initiative will make sure that people will not be fear of coming down to the Police Stations with a complaint. It may be reminded that several cases in the country go unreported due to the fear of going to a Police station.
