Prashanth Neel and Prabhas’s Salaar performed quite well in the Telugu markets, both overseas and within the Telugu states, maintaining decent traction even on weekdays.
Currently, there’s strong speculation that Salaar will start streaming on Netflix from January 12th.
If this holds true, it signifies Salaar’s OTT release just four weeks after its theatrical run.
While this isn’t entirely surprising, considering the film’s scale and cast, it serves as a clear indication of the increasing authority of OTT platforms over production houses.
Once a film hits theaters, OTT platforms target to stream it quickly to capitalize on the fresh viewer interest.
If Salaar arrives on OTT within 4 weeks, more productions will likely negotiate similar deals with OTTs to make extra money. Streamers are willing to pay extra for a faster OTT release.
