Prashanth Neel’s ‘Salaar,’ starring Prabhas, has caused a stir in Telugu states and North America. Hindi version is steadily trending in the Northern regions, boasting a 25% growth and capitalizing on the Christmas advantage.
Malayalam talented star Prithviraj Sukumaran portrayed an important side character in the film. Was it worth it in the end?
After gauging the film’s reception among Telugu audiences, it seems to be a big gain for him. In a scenario where Prabhas is the hero, it’s practically impossible for other characters to overshadow, so we need to look at this in a different perspective.
‘Salaar’ serves as a vehicle to introduce Prithviraj Sukumaran to a larger Telugu audience, and that goal is accomplished. Previously known to only a section of Telugu OTT audiences that watch Malayalam films, now his reach has expanded significantly.
This is just a begining to establish a solid base for him in the Telugu market, which will likely reflect positively in his future Telugu projects.
In fact, opting for a Telugu star film like Prabhas, rather than ambitiously venturing into the Telugu market with his own hero-centric film appears to be a strategic move and it definetly worked.
