Sandhya Theater Stampede: Will Allu Arjun Walk Out Of The Case?

Sandhya Theatre stampede case update

The Chikkadpally police have filed a charge sheet in the Nampally court in connection with the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, during the premiere show of Pushpa-2. Actor Allu Arjun is listed as an accused in the case. The investigation has been completed, and a 112-page charge sheet was submitted on the 24th of this month.

According to the charge sheet, Allu Arjun conducted a roadshow and reached the theatre without official permission. Police stated that the arrival triggered a sudden surge of fans at the venue. This reportedly led to uncontrollable crowd movement inside the theatre premises.

The investigation found that the theatre management failed to plan adequately despite expecting a large crowd. Proper crowd control measures were not implemented. This negligence contributed to the situation spiralling out of control.

The charge sheet also highlighted poor coordination between the theatre management, event organisers, and private security staff. Overcrowding inside and outside the theatre, along with chaos at entry and exit points, were cited as key reasons behind the stampede.

Statements were recorded from 52 individuals, including injured victims, eyewitnesses, and police personnel. CCTV footage and mobile phone videos from the day were collected and examined. All technical evidence was submitted to the court.

The Chikkadpally police named Agamati Peda Ram Reddy, the owner of Sandhya Theatre, as A-1. Allu Arjun has been listed as A-11 in the case. A total of 23 accused have been identified so far.

Out of the 23 accused, 14 individuals, including Allu Arjun, have been arrested. The remaining nine have secured anticipatory bail from the court. The investigation phase has officially concluded.

Chikkadpally ACP Ramesh Kumar told the media that police had advised Allu Arjun not to attend the premiere show. He stated that fans rushed into the lower balcony at once after the actor arrived. One person reportedly died due to suffocation during the incident.

The charge sheet largely repeats the statements made by police since the first day of the investigation. The next course of action now depends on the victim’s father. He holds the option to withdraw the charges.

If charges are withdrawn, a settlement may be considered after Allu Arjun and Mythri Movie Makers provided financial support for the boy’s treatment and rehabilitation. They have also pledged to cover future expenses related to his wellbeing.

Recently, Dil Raju announced in the presence of the boy’s father that ₹3.2 crore has already been provided. Of this amount, ₹1.5 crore has been deposited as a fixed deposit in Sritej’s name. Further assistance was also assured if required.

If the father chooses to pursue the case, it will move into the trial stage. The court will then decide whether Allu Arjun and the other accused are guilty based on the evidence presented.
