Legendary writer Javed Akhtar finds filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s reaction to criticism of his film Animal amusing. Javed sarcastically remarks that Sandeep resorted to mentioning his son Farhan Akhtar’s work because he couldn’t find fault in Javed’s 53-year-long career.
Sandeep retaliated to Javed’s critique of the portrayal of women in Animal by pointing out Farhan’s involvement in producing shows like Mirzapur, known for its abusive language and vulgar display of violence.
Javed expressed his amusement during an interview, highlighting that Sandeep couldn’t find anything objectionable in his extensive career and had to resort to mentioning his son’s work.
However, Javed clarified that his criticism was directed towards the popularity of Animal with audiences, not the filmmaker’s right to make such films.
Despite controversies, Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, achieved huge box office success, grossing over Rs 900 crore worldwide.
