Special Shows Purpose Getting Lost?

Special Shows Purpose Getting Lost?Special re-releases are the trend now. It all started off with the wide re release of Pokiri and then came the likes of Jalsa, ChennaKeshava Reddy, Billa and others. These film re releases were organised by fans and association presidents.

But the latest developments are turning a whole lot commercial, perhaps way too much for the audience and fans as well.

At first, the special shows were held by fans and the collections were donated to charity. This was a noble cause and the celebratory shows had some novel purpose.

But now, a few industry people are going for the overkill. After seeing the response for Pokiri and Jalsa shows, a few have started to see re releases as a business. As a result, we are hearing about one new re release or the other every other day.

Third parties are buying the re release rights and screening the films in a bid to cash in on fans. They are of the opinion that fans will flock the theaters in order to make sure their hero’s re release collections are bigger than other heroes.

The whole motive behind special shows was for fans to celebrate their favourite films again on big screens and to an extent, charity purpose. Neither of these are to be seen now with new re releases.
