The grand launch of the M.S. A Legacy On Screen Launch event was held at Chennai’s Music Academy in the presence of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan on the occasion of the legendary singer M S Subbulakshmi Amma 110th birth anniversary. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan gave Ceremonial clap for the film.
Addressing the gathering, Allu Aravind thanked Kamal Haasan for attending the event despite his busy schedule. He said seeing M.S. Subbulakshmi Amma’s portrait at the venue was an emotional moment and made him feel that Amma herself had chosen everyone involved in the project, including Rashmika Mandanna to portray her on screen.
Allu Aravind shared that while everyone knows M.S. Amma as a legendary musician, learning about her struggles, discipline, courage, and unwavering dedication inspired the team to make this biopic. He praised Gowtam Tinnanuri for spending an entire year researching her life, traveling extensively, and meeting several people to understand her extraordinary journey.
He also revealed that Gowtam stepped away from another major project to direct this film, while Rockline Venkatesh had spent nearly seven years securing the rights and developing the biopic with the support of M.S. Amma’s family. Allu Aravind said Anirudh Ravichander was chosen because he can connect M.S. Amma’s legacy with today’s generation, adding that the team is not recreating her timeless music but weaving Anirudh’s score into her life story.
Produced by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh, and Bunny Vas, the ambitious pan-India film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, stars Rashmika Mandanna in the title role, and features music by Anirudh Ravichander.
The launch was attended by Kamal Haasan, Suhasini, Sivakumar, Mahendran, Samuthirakani, Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Rajendran, Katragadda Prasad, M.S. Subbulakshmi’s grandson Chandrasekhar, his wife Mala, members of M.S. Amma’s family, and several distinguished guests from the worlds of cinema and classical music.
