Sree Vishnu has landed in a strange situation where two of his films, Mirthyunjay and Vishnu Vinyasam, are scheduled to release on February 27.
This is easily one of the most challenging scenarios for any hero. Especially for someone like Sree Vishnu, who still holds a good theatrical market. Even after a flop, he has repeatedly proven that he can pull audiences to theatres with the right content. That ability has worked for him multiple times.
However, in the case of Mirthyunjay and Vishnu Vinyasam, the situation is unusual.
The OTT rights of both films are already locked. One is with Netflix and the other with Amazon Prime Video. Both platforms are reportedly forcing for the February 27 release to fit their streaming slate.
Adding to the complication, both producers are relatively less experienced, which makes things even tougher.
The bigger problem is that even if one of the films gets postponed, there are hardly any favourable release dates in the near future. The upcoming months are already crowded, leaving very little breathing space.
So now, Sree Vishnu may end up carrying the rare distinction of having two releases on the same day. It is a unique record, but not an ideal one.
Overall, it is a strange and disappointing situation for Sree Vishnu.
