NTR has expressed many times that it is his dream to work under Tamil director Vetrimaaran for a film as hard-hitting and gritty as Vada Chennai or Asuran. Even during Devara promotions, he expressed his desire to work with the cult director.
Vetrimaaran also confirmed recently that his project with NTR might take off in a couple of years after he wraps up his current commitments.

However, a new controversy has erupted which might shatter all plans.
Fans have issued a strict warning to NTR to stay away from Vetrimaaran. This is due to the controversy created by a film titled Bad Girl, which is produced by Vetrimaaran.

The teaser of Bad Girl was launched recently and received huge backlash from a section of the audience.
The teaser has sparked debates, with many accusing the filmmakers of undermining cultural values under the pretext of bold narratives. Critics argue that sensitive themes and societal norms are being challenged without due consideration of cultural beliefs.

The major outrage revolves around the portrayal of a Brahmin woman as the protagonist. Even some filmmakers have voiced their disapproval, questioning why Brahmin families are often targeted. People are questioning Vetrimaaran and Anurag Kashyap who are involved in the creative process of the film.
This is not the first time a Vetrimaaran film has received such outrage. Even his last film Viduthalai was criticized for glorifying Naxalism. He has also made films that hurt Hindu sentiments. For instance, one of his films depicts characters consuming cow meat, a scene many felt was unnecessary and included solely to offend Hindus.
Fans have warned NTR to drop out of the project with Vetrimaaran. They say if he still proceeds, “Flop” is the word written over it. This is not a request but a warning from the Telugus. They believe that whatever respect he has earned as an actor will be diminished entirely with that film.
One fan wrote on social media, “Dear NTR, we have immense respect for you. Please drop your project with Vetri. He is venomous. Please don’t be a mouthpiece for a filthy director. He has produced a movie called Bad Girl; please show it to your mom, wife, sister, and daughter, and then take a call. Please respect your fans’ opinion.”
Fans fear that if NTR works with Vetrimaaran, the entire right wing will turn against him and treat him as an anti-national.
Vetrimaaran might be a great director, but most of his movies have only been appreciated by a limited audience. On top of that his films invite unwanted controversies. Many feel it’s better if NTR avoids Vetrimaaran.
We have to wait and see what decision NTR takes.
