Netflix’s first-ever Telugu original web series, Super Subbu, has finally locked its streaming date.
After creating curiosity with its quirky teaser and first-look posters, the comedy entertainer is set to premiere on July 2, 2026. In a significant move, Netflix will release the series simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The streaming platform announced the date through a new promotional video that offers a glimpse into the show’s quirky world. Netflix described the premise as follows: “An innocent young man… a traditional village… an impossible job. What happens when a man who doesn’t understand chemistry tries to teach chemistry to an entire village?”
One sequence in particular has caught viewers’ attention. The video shows villagers chasing Sundeep Kishan’s character, Subbu, with apparent murderous intent, raising curiosity about the circumstances that put him in such trouble.
The announcement comes after Super Subbu recently appeared in Netflix’s “Coming Soon” section, fueling speculation about an imminent release date reveal.
The series marks Sundeep Kishan’s OTT debut in the web series space. It stars Mithila Palkar as the female lead, while Murali Sharma, Brahmanandam, Sampoornesh Babu, Hyper Aadi, Getup Srinu, and Manasa Chaudhary play key roles.
Directed by Mallik Ram and produced by Rajiv Chilaka and Bharath Laxmipati under Chilaka Productions, the show appears to blend rural comedy with social satire. Mallik Ram previously directed Sidhhu Jonnalagadda’s blockbuster Tillu Square, but he did not receive much recognition for it. We have to see whether this web series can help him land bigger projects.
With its unusual premise, village backdrop, and ensemble cast, Super Subbu has generated decent pre-release buzz. More importantly, the series carries the distinction of being Netflix’s first Telugu original, adding extra significance to its July 2 premiere.
