The outgoing YSR Congress government had been largely restrictive of the Telugu film industry. In his tenure, Jagan brought in changes like capping ticket prices, canceling benefit shows, and other regulations that affect the film industry.

But that is not the case anymore as the Telugu Desam-led alliance government has been voted to power in AP.

Telugu Desam has historically been supportive of the film industry with instant permissions for benefit shows and ticket price hikes. The good old days could be back for big event films that need this added push.

The main and immediate benefactors of this would be Prabhas, NTR, and Allu Arjun who are coming up with their big event films in the latter half of 2024.

The immediate next biggie is Kalki which is arriving on the 27th of this month. Considering the producer, Ashwini Dutt’s rapport with CM Chandrababu, we can expect all possible support to Kalki from the AP government. This could well be the first Telugu biggie to benefit from the TDP government.

Then we have NTR and Allu Arjun who are arriving later this year with Devara and Pushpa 2 respectively. Once Kalki gets the additional ticket hikes and special shows, which would boost the box office performance of these films in AP, we can gauge the boost that NTR and Allu Arjun’s films would be getting.

What’s for certain is that producers need not stand in queues in front of the Chief Minister’s Office to get 30-40 Rs hikes from the AP government. There could be much smoother transitions henceforth.
