Tech-Savvy Directors Take the Spotlight

Karthik Varma Dandu, Srikanth OdelaDasra and Virupaksha unleased the technical finesse of the two young directors.

Srikanth Odela, an erstwhile assistant to Sukumar, delivered a film like Dasara which had a script based on emotions, and gripping narration for most parts and was technically a superior product. The cinematography, editing, raw action, and well-choreographed songs created an indelible mark on the minds of the audience. Odela exceeded the expectations that were placed on him, especially in extracting memorable performances. Actors like Nani can take pride in his filmography at any given day.

Virupaksha is Karthik Dandu’s ticket to fame. Technically it’s not his first film, he directed a film a few years back. It is kind of a relaunch for him with Virupaksha. He also was an assistant to Sukumar, coincidentally.

He has delivered a slick film with good technical values. The spooky sound design and the haunting background score are the major high points. The VFX team also has done their part well. Karthik narrated the film interestingly for most parts which is the hallmark of a good director.

Dasara gave Nani his biggest grosser and that too in a genre that is not usually associated with him. Virupaksha is all set to become the biggest hit in Sai Dharam Tej’s career who was trying to make a comeback after a hiatus he took after his accident.

Let’s hope both directors continue to bring even better scripts and engage the audience with their future films and don’t turn out to be one-film wonders.
