2025 has been slow for Telugu cinema at the box office. Very few films managed to pull strong crowds.
September, however, turned out better for you as a viewer. Films like Little Hearts, Kishkindapuri, Mirai, and OG brought in steady footfalls and good revenue across theatres.
Among these, OG made headlines with a massive ₹250 crore opening weekend. Yet, the film’s daily trends show a sharp dip, making it unlikely to cross the ₹300 crore milestone set earlier this year by Sankranthiki Vastunnam.
For now, that benchmark feels out of reach for OG. The next big test is Akhanda 2, slated for release on December 5. All eyes are on Nandamuri Balakrishna and whether his film can push past ₹300 crore worldwide.
To achieve this, Akhanda 2 must dominate in Telugu states and also draw strong collections overseas and in Hindi markets. At present, Sankranthiki Vastunnam remains the only Telugu film to cross the ₹300 crore global gross.
