Tollywood saw two new theatrical outings last weekend and they are Extra Ordinary Man and Hi Nanna. Here’s a look into the first weekend run of these films at the box office.
Hi Nanna opened to mixed talk and the opening day was ordinary in the Telugu states. But it picked up over the weekend with strong Sunday.
Multiplexes breathed life for the film and good trend here over the weekend have resulted in the film recovering nearly 60% of the theatrical business ~ Rs 30 crores.
Nani is a ‘sureshot’ star in the USA and that was proven again as he hit another $1 million mark with Hi Nanna.
As for Extra Ordinary Man, it is a washout across all belts. The domestic revenues are negligible and the film is sure to incur huge losses to everyone involved. The Rs 25 crores theatrical target is out of reach.
Same with the USA as well, the film is going nowhere with a sub $80K collections till now.
First Weekend Grosses:
#HiNanna: $181,610 (Sunday) Total: $1,186,016
#ExtraOrdinaryMan: $7,292 (Sun) Total: $82,585
Hi Nanna is showing decent promise and the second week numbers will decide if the film will reach the breakeven mark or perhaps even post profits. Either way, Nani would take satisfaction from this class film as it managed to punch above its weight given the genre and its word of mouth. Nithiin’s film is a gone case.
