Vishakapatnam Police is finding it tough to get good matches as the district police are facing a unique problem concerning their promotions. All the young police personnel wants their posting in Vishakapatnam city. Even if they are posted else where they are trying for transfers as they are facing difficulties in marriage.

The district police have 43 police stations under its control and 17 of them are located in 11 Agency mandals of the district and in that 11 mandals, nine are known to be Maoist-prone areas such as Chintapalle, G. Madugula, GK Veedhi, Koyyuru, Sileru, Annavaram, Munchangiput and Pedabayalu. Families of brides are not coming forward for such alliances as they are in danger most of the time.
Another problem with the police of this district is the promotions issue. They are getting delayed due to many opting for city duties and frequent transfers and redistribution of areas. Since 1994, there have been three redistribution of jurisdiction creating problems for promotions.
