We usually see films, failing to connect with the audience and generate a lot of negative feedback after the release, and there are multiple films in this category each year. But the discussion is about this one particular film, which has become the most hated prospect even before the release.
The film that we are mentioning here is Toxic, which has KGF star Yash in the lead role. Ideally, this should have been closely anticipated film after the tremendous success of KGF, but the exact opposite is the case now.
Every promotional material that is coming out of this film is being outrightly rejected by the common folk on social media. The latest addition is the ladies promo that was released today.
Almost all the neutral and generic quotes and replies to this video that was shared by the team today are negative in nature and contradicting the very narrative. Excessive objectification and sexualisation of the female actors in the film and particularly, the final dialogue on “men’s c*cks” have gone horribly wrong.
Tailoring a mass film with raw content is a different proposition and there is this fine line that must be followed here. But everything about this film has been vulgar and unacceptable by social standards, and that is where the team is lacking. Another shocking thing is that this film is made by female director Geetu Mohandas.
Everything that can go wrong with the film before the release has gone wrong with Toxic right from the early establishment of the premise to the subsequent promotional material. There might be something to look forward to in the Kannada market, considering Yash’s popularity but in the rest of the markets, it’s going to be a race against the upstream.
