Tragedy on Kantara 2 Set

Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara: Chapter 1’s shoot came to a halt suddenly after an unfortunate event that happened on the sets. A junior artist, MF Kapil, drowned during the production schedule at Kollur, Karnataka.

The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday afternoon and immediately halted the film’s progress.

Kapil, who hailed from Kerala, is said to have taken a break and went to swim in the Kollur Souparnika river. Unfortunately, he was swept away by strong currents. The local authorities and fire department launched a search operation and were able to recover his mortal remains by the evening.

The Karnataka police has also registered a case at Kollur station and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause behind the incident.

Later, the makers of Kantara also issued a formal note stating that Kapil’s accident did not occur on the sets of the film but due to his personal engagements elsewhere. They also requested everyone to refrain from associating his accident to any scope of the film.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is releasing in October this year and a huge amount has been invested in the prequel, considering the popularity of the first film, released back in 2022.

While audiences are eagerly waiting for the film’s arrival on the big screen, it remains to be seen if there will be any kind of delay in release due to the recent incident.
