The Malayalam movie Aavesham, released during Eid, is a big hit this year. Starring Fahadh Faasil, it made around Rs. 36 crore in India during its extended 8-day first week.
Internationally, it earned about USD 3.50 million (Rs. 29 crores), making a total of around Rs. 65 crore worldwide.
Aavesham is expected to reach the Rs. 100 crore mark by next Tuesday or Wednesday.
The film is on track to become the seventh Malayalam movie to gross over 100 crores.
Four of these seven movies were released in 2024, making it a fantastic year for Malayalam cinema. Those four films are Premalu, Manjummel Boys, Aadujeevitham (The GOAT Life), and now Aavesham.
In Kerala, Aavesham earned Rs. 28 crore in the first eight days, with steady earnings even on weekdays, surprising even the trade experts.
Aavesham also performed well outside Kerala, earning Rs. 3.75 crore in Karnataka and Rs. 2.75 crore in Tamil Nadu.
