Perhaps there is no bigger representation of the power of mass cinema and the limitations of class cinema in terms of openings than the case of Salaar vs Dunki at the box office. Looking at the USA box office performance of the two films, Salaar is miles ahead of Dunki.
As per the latest updates, Salaar has collected in the range of $1.5 million through pre-sales. The film has added a whopping $300K in the last 24 hours itself, after adding $250K the day before.
As for Dunki, the film is hovering around the $325K mark. With just one day to go for the premiere, this can be considered an alright number. But not quite on the range of an SRK-Hirani film potential scale.
As things stand, Salaar is 5 times bigger than Dunki in terms of pre-sales and the film is well on course to touch the $2.5M mark on the premiere day.
Salaar is dominating Dunki in the domestic online ticketing platform, Book My Show as well. But what needs to be noted is that Salaar is releasing in five Indian languages while Dunki is releasing only in Hindi.
