This Diwali saw multiple films clashing in the Telugu states and North America.
Three major films competing in Telugu markets are Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar, Kiran Abbavaram’s KA, and Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran.
From an overall perspective, the Tamil-dubbed film Amaran is the outright winner in the U.S., collecting $1,425,385. However, its Telugu version only brought in $123,024 of the $1.5 million total.
This brings the Telugu clash down to Lucky Baskhar and KA.
Despite the hype, ratings, and strong production support, Lucky Bhaskar has underperformed. Although it reached $1 million, it has yet to hit the break-even point, with total earnings of $1,050,348 so far (as of 7 PM EST Saturday).
Lucky Bhaskar still needs to collect over $200K to reach the break-even zone. Next week, Kanguva and Matkha will be released, which will make it difficult.
In contrast, KA has achieved break-even, collecting $584,101. Although it didn’t post big numbers, it had a smooth journey to break even.
