Vijay Devarakonda Missed Out On Golden Chance?

Dil Raju was eager to release his upcoming film “Family Star” during Sankranthi 2024, featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, directed by Parasuram.

The initial plan was to capitalize on the holiday season, given the film’s family-friendly theme. However, due to pending shoots and post-production work, meeting the Sankranthi deadline became challenging.

Realizing the time constraints and other issues, the team decided to postpone the release to the first quarter of 2024. Vijay Deverakonda, who is also looking for a substantial hit, advised against rushing the process and supported this decision.

Now, with the Sankranthi verdict out, it seems like “Family Star” might have missed a golden opportunity. Prashanth Varma’s “Hanu Man” emerged as the clear winner during the festival. Mahesh Babu’s film had a moderate performance, mainly benefiting from the festive season. Negative word of mouth affected its box office prospects big time.

Venkatesh’s “Saindhav” turned out to be a washout, with not even good openings. Nagarjuna’s “Naa Saami Ranga” is comparatively doing better, especially in B and C centers.

Given the circumstances, it’s speculated that if “Family Star” had been part of the Sankranthi lineup, it could have made use of the festive season, considering the lukewarm response to other releases.

Sankranthi can easily accommodate two blockbusters, and this year, “Hanu Man” turned out to be the only blockbuster leaving the second position vacant. “Family Star” could have potentially become the second blockbuster with positive reviews, but the decision to delay its release may have cost Vijay Devarakonda and Family Star team this golden opportunity.
