Speaking at the Dude movie event, Director Rahul Sankrityan claimed that Vijay Deverakonda’s performance in his next film under his direction would be nothing short of spectacular, showcasing his true acting prowess and complete transformation. He stated that the audience would witness Vijay’s “vishwaroopam.”
However, such over-the-top statements have lost credibility today. Trivikram had made similar claims about Pawan Kalyan’s “vishwaroopam” in Agnyathavaasi. After release, the film turned out to be an embarrassing disaster, and PK’s performance was widely trolled. Many directors and actors in recent times have made grandiose statements about their films and performances, only to create embarrassment when the movie releases.
Vijay Deverakonda is currently at the lowest point in his career after a string of flops. What he truly needs now is a strong script and a capable director. Producers and directors hyping his films and performances without content are doing more harm than good. It is time to stop the excessive hype and let audiences decide when Vijay truly delivers a “vishwaroopam” level performance.
It has been many years since Vijay Deverakonda delivered a genuinely likeable performance, let alone one deserving of such over the top comparisons. Filmmakers should focus their energy on crafting good films rather than making exaggerated claims. Audiences organically recognize and praise talent when it is backed by solid content, not hype.
