Generally, when a big Hero is signing off from the film industry, they prefer to make a solid farewell film. Tamil Hero Thalapathy Vijay is not different to this either as he wanted his Jana Nayagan to reflect his political ideology when the film was originally supposed to release in January.
But due to multiple reasons, this film got postponed much longer than expected, and it is now finally releasing on July 23.
On paper, this might be the least hyped or anticipated film from Vijay in recent years, and this is largely due to the lack of director value that would otherwise come with a Lokesh Kanagaraj or Nelson Dilip Kumar.
But either way, this film cannot be underestimated at the box office. Vijay is at the peak of his prowess now, as he got elected as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and his image has seen a huge increase.
It is an understatement to say that this film can create an absolute sensation at the Tamil box office, considering the recent rise in Vijay’s mania. This film is certain to become one of the highest grossing films in Tamil market at least.
Even in the Telugu states, Vijay has gained a significant following from his recent political uprise. In fact, we are witnessing banners and welcome posters for him here. So there is a good prospect in Telugu as well.
For now, not many great things might be expected from this film, but things can turn around in the last one or two days before the release. Needless to say, Vijay has a solid ₹10 crore market at the very least here in Telugu and this can go up significantly if the film is good enough.
So there is a very good chance that this Vijay film might be an absolute winner at the ticket counters, even if the director Vinod has come up with at least moderately good content.
