Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma has been steadily building curiosity, and the team now appears to have a festival target in mind. However, the makers are not ready to announce the release date just yet.
Director Karthik Varma Dandu recently interacted with fans and revealed that the team is trying to bring the mythical adventure thriller to theatres for Dussehra. The catch is the VFX work. The final release decision will depend on whether the visual effects are completed on time and meet the team’s expectations.
That caution is understandable, given the kind of film Vrushakarma is shaping up to be. The promotional material has already hinted at an elaborate mythical world, and the makers seem unwilling to compromise on the VFX simply to meet a festival deadline.
Naga Chaitanya plays Arjun, a treasure hunter, in what looks like a different setup from his recent films. Meenaakshi Chaudhary is the female lead, while Laapataa Ladies fame Sparsh Shrivastava plays the main villain. Jayaram is also part of the cast.
The shoot is currently progressing in Vizag, while the team is simultaneously racing against time on the post-production work.
For Chaitanya, Vrushakarma comes at an interesting point in his career. Akhil Akkineni has just scored a big success with Lenin, while Nagarjuna is gearing up for his landmark 100th film. Naturally, expectations are now turning towards Chaitanya to deliver something special as well.
Vrushakarma is the biggest-budget film of Naga Chaitanya’s career and has reportedly generated encouraging inside reports. The film has the potential to become his biggest grosser if the content connects with audiences.
Directed by Karthik Varma Dandu and produced by BVSN Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra, Vrushakarma has music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.
For now, Dussehra is the target, but the VFX will have the final say. If the work is ready to the team’s satisfaction, Chaitanya could arrive for the festival. Otherwise, the makers may prefer to wait rather than rush a film that could potentially become the biggest success of his career.
