Car gifts after a hit have almost become a familiar part of South Indian cinema celebrations. Sun Pictures head Kalanithi Maran has followed the trend once again, presenting brand-new BMW cars to Arun Matheswaran, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Anirudh for the success of DC.
But wait, where is Wamiqa Gabbi? The actress is one of the key faces of DC and her performance has been widely appreciated, yet there was no BMW for her in this celebration. She may not have directed the film, composed its music, or handled its action, but she brought plenty of energy and presence to the screen. For many viewers, she was among the film’s standout performers.
That makes her absence hard to miss, especially when three other members of the team are being rewarded with luxury cars. Nobody is saying every successful actor must get a BMW, but when such a grand gesture is being made for a blockbuster, the leading lady being left out naturally catches attention.
And then comes the fun part. Car gifting has become such a familiar success ritual that one wonders what these filmmakers and stars do with all the cars they keep receiving.
For now, three BMWs have gone into the DC team garage. Wamiqa, however, appears to have been left without the keys.
