War 2 is making waves for various reasons, and with just six days to go before its release, fans are buzzing about a new report on the post-credit scene. The report claims that Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Sharvari Wagh will make cameo appearances. This could mean that all key characters from the YRF Spy Universe might come together in one film.
Although Yash Raj Films has not confirmed this news, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have long been part of the Spy Universe as Pathaan and Tiger. The franchise is expanding with the introduction of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in the upcoming film Alpha, set to release this December.
There is a three-month gap between War 2 and Alpha, suggesting YRF might be building hype for Alpha by featuring its characters alongside stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in War 2. Meanwhile, the stories of Pathaan and Tiger are far from over, with Pathaan 2 already in development. Writer Abbas Tyrewala revealed this in a podcast last year.
Though Salman Khan denied a Tiger vs Pathaan crossover earlier this year, YRF has yet to make an official statement. This hints that such a project might still happen but could take longer than expected to reach theatres.
Bringing all these characters together could boost War 2’s appeal. However, there is a chance this report is just hype to draw more viewers and increase box office numbers.
On the same release date, Rajinikanth’s Coolie is also hitting theatres and is leading in overseas advance bookings. To compete, YRF might try different marketing strategies to capture audience attention.
Advance bookings in India for War 2 are yet to start. It will be interesting to see which film, War 2 or Coolie, turns out to be the bigger hit when their theatrical runs conclude.
