War 2 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema right now.
Bringing together two of the country’s biggest stars — Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR — under the direction of Ayan Mukerji, the film is a follow-up to the blockbuster War (2019) and promises to expand the YRF Spy Universe in scale and ambition.
Backed by Yash Raj Films, the studio behind mega franchises like Dhoom and Pathaan, the film also marks a serious push into pan-India territory.
However, what’s surprising is how quiet the film’s promotional campaign has been so far. For a movie of this scale and star power, the marketing has been unusually subdued.
Apart from a poorly received teaser and the occasional generic quote from Hritik and NTR like “It’s going to be a great experience,” there has been little effort to build serious hype.
No trailer, no songs, no behind-the-scenes footage — absolutely zero. Adding to the confusion is buzz that Hrithik and NTR may not be promoting the film together.
Sources say the teaser’s negative response, especially around its VFX and underwhelming presentation of NTR Jr., has pushed Ayan Mukerji to revisit the trailer.
Reports suggest that extra care is being taken this time to improve the visual effects and ensure a more natural, immersive experience — especially with high-impact elevation scenes for NTR.
The filmmakers reportedly want to balance both stars’ screen presence, catering to their respective fan bases across the North and South.
It is expected that the film’s first song, featuring Hrithik and Kiara Advani, will be released in the next few days. The official trailer is likely to arrive around August 1.
The much-hyped dance number featuring Hrithik vs NTR might only be teaser, and the full song will be revealed only in theaters on August 14.
For now, War 2 is riding on its star value, franchise legacy, and the promise of a high-octane cinematic experience.
But with time ticking, fans are hoping the upcoming trailer will finally shift gears and give the film the promotional push it truly deserves.
