Director Karuna Kumar is directing Mega Prince Varun Tej in Matkha which is hitting the screens on the 14th of this month.
M9 News Journalist Nishant sat with the director ahead of the release. We asked him about how the idea of Matkha came to him and the research that went into understanding the Game.

He revealed how Matkha King Ratan Khatri’s life inspired him to make this film and the changes he made to make it in the Vishakapatnam nativity.
Karuna Kumar also expressed his anguish about how Uttarandhra filmmakers failed to portray their culture in the films. He appreciated the Directors of Telangana in doing the same. He admitted that Tharun Bhascker is an inspiration to him on that front.

We asked him about the Left ideology in his films and how he incorporated those principles into the Hero Character of Matkha.
Karuna Kumar was honest in admitting exploitation (Dopidi) in the industry.

“Exploitation exists everywhere. The film Industry is also no exception. But I do not have the range to stop it. But I ensure that I do not exploit my ADs. I pay them a bit better than the market price,” Karuna Kumar said.
He cited an example of the Exploitation that exists in the film industry.
