Till recently it looked almost certain that Katamarayudu was arriving on March 24. That is why other films planned their releases accordingly. But it is now heard that Katamarayudu will be arriving on March 29th instead. So, which of the two dates is good for the movie?

First of all, there is a noticeable film releasing every week starting from the day Katamarayudu releases. It means there would be a reduction of screens irrespective of the performance of the movie. And the movie event of the summer arrives four weeks after the release of Katamarayudu. At the same time, there are three holidays starting from March 29th which is Ugadi. It will be followed by Sri Ram Navami on April 5th and Good Friday on April 14th.
Keeping in mind those two scenarios, and assuming Katamarayudu gets at least above average sort of talk, a likely scenario, March 24th release will give the movie longer run with a slightly lower opening week. The second and third week would be decent to good due to holidays. A March 29th release, in comparison, will have a heavy first week due to two holidays and extended opening weekend. The follow up even with screen sharing would be fine.
In both cases, with good talk, Katamarayudu will have the possibility of a good run but March 29 will enable it to have a record grosser perception as opposed to March 24. Also for overseas, this unfavorable genre could benefit with an extended weekend, provided it gets the good talk. Let’s see what decision the makers take regarding the release date.
