What is Sye Raa Legal Controversy All About?

What is Sye Raa Legal Controversy All About? The Fourth Generation descendants of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy have approached the High Court demanding royalty for making the film. The makers have surprised everyone saying in the Court that it is not the Biopic of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy but a work of fiction.

The complaints say that the 22 families who are descendants of Uyyalawada are promised 10% of the Total Budget as Royalty and Ram Charan failed to keep the Promise. According to the Cinematography Act 1952, it is illegal to make a biopic without the consent of the person if he/she is living or the heirs of the person.

They claim that they have an agreement signed by Ram Charan saying that it is indeed a Biopic of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. The Royalty they are promised amounts to 1.05 Crore. The Producers on the other hand, says any story which is more than 100 years old becomes history and the Royalty need not be paid.

The makers claim of the movie not being a Biopic surprises everyone because the movie’s trailers and promotion events have spoken of Narasimha Reddy as the first freedom fights in the 1840s and how Chiranjeevi is bringing the hero of Rayalaseema to life on the big screen. The court is likely to decide the case on Monday, two days ahead of the release.
