Making crafty films is not everyone’s cup of tea and particularly so in Telugu cinema. One such rare exception is Venky Atluri who recently made Lucky Bhaskar.
While Lucky Bhaskar is not a path breaking film of any kind, it is a relatively engaging film. Considering the genre and the alienness that comes with it for the Telugu folk, Venky has presented the film reasonably well.

However, considering the underperformance of the film at the box office with the kind of early talk that it got, this film could slowly be pushed into the infamous “Underrated” bracket by the Telugu social media folk.
Coming to the director, Venky Atluri himself, has has a knack of making decent films that have decent packaging. Barring Mr Majnu, his other films Tholiprema, Sir, and Lucky Bhaskar all have decent enough value.

But despite the clean track record, no mainstream Telugu star, even the mid-range ones have been proactive when it comes to lining up Venky.
As a result, the director has mostly been working with other language heroes. And again, despite making good films with other language heroes and getting a decent word of mouth, Venky is still struggling to get out of the “underrated” track.

Venky can propel to the big league only if he leaves this mellowed track and makes a splashing film by convincing a big enough star. The likes of Vijay Deverakonda and Nani are possible options.
But as it appears, Venky appears to be happy with what he is doing and achieving with these mellowed films. He is keeping things simple and enjoying what he gets in return.
